This is a thick cream in a jar, similar to facial creams. The directions say for fine hair to apply the cream sparingly to wet hair, and then rinse out before shampooing. For thick, course, or frizzy hair apply generously to wet hair. And for really damaged hair from sun, heat, or processing, there is a cap that comes in the box to cover the hair for a more intense moisturizing treatment.
Although the directions say to rinse out the Elasticizer before shampooing, just using this alone without shampoo is not a bad idea. The manageability that this product provides for thick, course hair is remarkable.
